Directions to Farnborough Community Centre

Welcome to the Farnborough & District Radio Society Website

The Farnborough & District Radio Society (FDRS) is a club for Radio Amateurs and Short Wave Listeners in and around Farnborough, Hampshire. If you have an interest in radio we would be delighted to see you at our club, which meets at 7:30 for 8:00pm every 2nd and 4th Wednesday in the month at the Farnborough Community Centre, Meudon Avenue, Farnborough.

List of meetings for whole of 2009

Existing amateurs are welcome to call in to one of the Club Nets:

  • Top Band Net: Mondays at 8:00pm on 1995kHz LSB G4FRS

  • Two Metre Net: Fridays at 8:00pm on 144.675MHz FM G6FRS

  • Eighty Metre slow speed Morse Net Mondays at 13:00 hours on 3570kHz G0VYR 

**** Newsflash****

VHF National Field Day 1400 GMT Saturday 4th July to 1400 GMT Sunday 5 July. 

We will be operating 6M, 2M, 70cm and 23 cm. from the Longdown site on the Hogs Back, using the call G6FRS 
We will be monitoring the Club's Net frequency 144.675 for 'Talk In', if required. 
To reach the site go along Wood Lane as far as possible.  Then go into field via 5 bar wooden gate on right. Follow signs to FDRS.  Take care driving as there are some difficult to see holes. Click here for Map.
Note there is no access to the site from the A31.

 

New Chairman

On 13 June John G3KND has stepped down as Chairman of FDRS after 8 years service in that post. 
He will continue to be a committee member until the AGM.
The club has thrived under John's leadership and members greatly appreciated his efforts
Thanks for all you have done for the club John.
Colin G8BCO has kindly agreed to take on the Chairmanship.

  • Our first entry in "Mills On the Air" was a great success we worked 160 stations in 3 continents
    Operation was from Elstead Mill on 9th and 10th May 2009 using the special call sign
    GB2EM.
    Lovely location and great weather for the event!
